HISTORY

In 1966 Friedel Kopp founded the lumber wholesales trade company „Fr. Kopp GmbH” in Porta Westfalica, Germany. Amongst the main products in the early days were mainly sawn lumber from Scandinavia. The importance of lumber from the USA and Canada began to grow over the years. The demand and the growing need of overseas lumber encouraged the company in specialising in the region of import lumber. In order to satisfy this requirement, Friedel Kopp searched for producers, which could cover without any problems the European customers requirements of certain quality and availability. Some of these business connections are now 20 years old and even older.

End of 1998 Friedel Kopp was able to win Mr. Michael Raschdorff for the company. The "KOPP & RASCHDORFF - COMPANY FOR INNOVATIVE WOOD PRODUCTS MBH" was founded in order to strengthen and to extend the customer service and europe wide distribution. This was achieved by investment and co-operation with partners in Germany, Austria and Denmark. With Mr. Rolf Schäfer as managing director the company is reinforced by a further lumber specialist in 2006.

THE COMPANY

With a small team of competent specialist we now serve the European market with import as well as European lumber for more than 27 years. All our partners have adjusted intensively and completely to the requirements of our customers in Europe.

Our production in the USA is in an area, which extends from the northeast down the mid west of the country. The main items of the supplied lumber are HARD MAPLE, WHITE and RED OAK, BLACK CHERRY and WALNUT. Of course other North American lumber can be supplied.

Our works in CANADA supply our customers amongst others with the beautiful light northern HARD MAPLE. From the Baltic’s we supply BIRCH and ADER. The lower Tatra of Slovakia is the area of growth for our BEECH. Last but not least through the decades long connection to Scandinavia we can say with pride to be the competent partner for customers with high requirements for PINE and SPRUCE.

Due to the specialising of the single producers a synergy effect is created which offers our customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland optimal purchase conditions. That means, that we are not only a fast and reliable supplier of classical sawn lumber, but also offer you dimension goods and partially manufactured products (i.e. parquet floorings) up to individual produced edge glued panels in constant high quality, constantly available. The over the years grown Know-how and the matching contacts enables "KOPP & RASCHDORFF GmbH" to monitor the world wide lumber market and to assess it respectively for you.
